A Psalm 13 Prayer

"How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?

How long will you hide your face from me?

How long will I store up anxious concerns within me, agony in my mind every day?

How long will my enemy dominate me? Consider me and answer, Lord my God.

Restore brightness to my eyes; otherwise, I will sleep in death.

My enemy will say, “I have triumphed over him,” and my foes will rejoice because I am shaken.

But I have trusted in your faithful love; my heart will rejoice in your deliverance.

I will sing to the Lord because he has treated me generously."

O Lord, my God! How long? How long must I wait? How long must you be silent? Will you forget me forever? I know you are ever present with me, but it sure feels like you're hiding from me. So much so that anxious concerns are storing up within me and agony is taking over my mind every day. How long? How long will you allow my enemies to dominate me? How long, Lord? Consider me and answer.

Restore, O God, brightness to my eyes and joy to my heart; otherwise, I am dead. My enemy will say, "I have triumphed" and my foes will rejoice at my downfall. But I trust in your faithful love. I trust in your deliverance and rejoice. I will sing because You are good and you treat me generously. To You be the victory forever and ever! Amen.
