A Psalm 22:1-11 Prayer

"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning? O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, and by night, but I find no rest.

Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. In you our fathers trusted; they trusted, and you delivered them. To you they cried and were rescued; in you they trusted and were not put to shame.

But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by mankind and despised by the people. All who see me mock me; they make mouths at me; they wag their heads;

“He trusts in the Lord; let him deliver him;

let him rescue him, for he delights in him!”

Yet you are he who took me from the womb; you made me trust you at my mother's breasts.

On you was I cast from my birth, and from my mother's womb you have been my God.

Be not far from me, for trouble is near, and there is none to help."

My God, my God, you feel so far from me. Have you forsaken me? Can you hear the groanings of my heart? the words on my lips? Come quickly to answer. O God, I cry to you day and night and find no rest because you have not answered me. Yet, you are holy.

You are enthroned on the praises of Israel who trusted you. You delivered them. So, I know no matter how I feel, you are my Savior, and you will rescue me. You have a track record of rescuing your people. Israel trusted you and were not put to shame. Neither will I be, Lord. Even though I feel like I am just a worm and not a human. I've been scorned and despised by others. I feel mocked for my faith in You because you have not yet answered. They laugh at my trust in You. Yet you are holy.

You are He who created me and took me from the very vulnerable beginnings to trust in You. You have been my God since I was formed in my mother's womb. Be not far from me, Lord, for trouble is near, and there is no one else who can help like You can. I put my trust in You, and I will remain faithful even if I cannot feel you near me. For You are holy. Amen.
