There is power in giving God thanks. The more gratitude we give Him, the more joy we have. Not only that, God becomes more evident in our daily lives. The challenge is how do we give Him thanks for circumstances that frustrate us, anger us, make us sad or confused or hurt? How do we praise Him in the darkest valleys when one thing after another seems to knock us down? Well, simply, we just do.
God's will for us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 is to give thanks in ALL circumstances, so even if your heart is broken and the last thing you feel like doing is saying, "Thanks, God, for this heartache," you just do. I know, I know, that is a ridiculously difficult task, but trust me, God is still good and He is still powerful. So, when you give thanks, you are tapping into His power and goodness and faithfulness; and He won't leave you where you are in your circumstances. God is unfailing in love. Give thanks no matter what, for this is His will for you.
