Faith Beyond Reason

Writer: faithroots267faithroots267
To have the kind of faith where we can say to a mountain, "Go throw yourself into the sea," and the mountain obeys our command (Matthew 21:21) is to have the kind of faith that is beyond reason. So, how do we know if we have this kind of faith? Let's take a little test...
Ask yourself the following questions:
  • Do I truly believe God?
  • Do I trust His plan?
  • Do I believe God is good?
  • Do I really rely on Him at all times and in all circumstances?
  • Do I let God have full control?
Now, imagine you are Job (see Job chapter 1) and you've just lost everything--wealth, income, status, loved ones, health, property, everything--and then ask yourself those same five questions. Do your answers change?
I don't know about you, but I had trouble honestly saying a hard yes to some of those questions. See, it isn't enough to say, "I believe in God, I know He is good, and I trust Him in all circumstances" when everything is going well in our lives. Our faith will prove itself most when we have every reason not to believe God. When we cannot see any type of logical solution, when we have nothing solid to lean on, when it seems impossible to understand God's goodness that's when we need to activate our faith beyond reason the most. Why? Because faith beyond reason is the anchor of hope in God's promises. Otherwise, we become like a house on shifting sand (see Mathew 7:24-27).
For truly faith isn't needed unless we are being tested. So, let's, instead, be a lighthouse built on the Rock, standing firm to navigate others from getting lost at sea. And if there are any mountains to be moved, we've got the faith beyond reason to do it.
