Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.”
2 Corinthians 9:8 NLT
Read 2 Corinthians 9:6-15.
Generosity from others never goes unnoticed. But have you ever taken the time to notice how generous God has been with you? I know I don't always notice. I let days go by without giving God the proper acknowledgment that He has generously provided all that I need for each day I live.
In 2 Corinthians 9:7-9, Paul is writing to the Corinthians about being cheerful, generous givers and letting their hearts dictate what they give. Taking a look at our hearts is a good first step in seeing if we truly acknowledge God for giving all that we need. The second step is looking at our giving. Our giving ought to be a reflection of what God has given to us. Because we have all we need and because God is generous, we do have plenty left over to share with others (2 Corinthians 9:8). We can properly acknowledge God and give back to Him through the way we give to others each day.
How do we do that?
1. Pray about what is needed and what can be given to those in need around you today.
2. Consider in this present moment what you have an abundance of. Is it
time? money? clothes? strength? love? joy? peace? wisdom? Certain skills like art, cooking, listening, comforting, driving, mowing, watching kids? If anything, sharing the love of Christ, which we have been given an abundance of, is the best gift you can give. We all are in need of His amazing love.
3. Give God thanks for always providing all that you need so that you can help Him give to others
what they need.
You are noticed. You are loved. You are valued. God delights in you, and your life matters. Go and be a blessing today because you are blessed with all that you need from a God who loves to give generously to you.
“Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor.”
