It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed,
because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23 KJV
Every day you wake up--eyelids wide open, heart still beating, lungs still breathing--is a day that the Lord has made full of life for you to enjoy and it is a day made new with mercies. Praise God for new days and new mercies! Glory!
If you've ever gone to bed feeling guilty for all the things you didn't accomplish, for the wrong choices you made, for knowingly giving into temptation, for failures and mistakes and disappointment, then you need to read Lamentations 3:22-23 with me again: "It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
His compassions fail not. His mercies are new EVERY morning. Yes, indeed, He is faithful even when we aren't. Let not that guilt consume you but instead, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9 ESV) Aren't you glad you are given another chance and a clean slate to try again today?
Here's the thing about God, whether you confess or not, He is faithful. He is true to His Word. New day means new mercies. They're already in place for you. Accept them, receive them, (and yes, still confess your sin and get right with Him); and then, let this day be a day of rejoicing. Great IS His faithfulness!
Keep going. Keep trying. Keep seeking the Lord. And keep thanking Him for each new day He gives you to experience the abundant life Jesus died to give you. You're worth it. Now, go, and make the most of this new day!
Heavenly Father, thank you for the new mercies you've already given me today. You see my heart and know me; and yet, you are so faithful in your love for me. Thank you for your compassion, and thank you for this new day. Most of all, thank you, Jesus, for dying for me to give me not just eternal life but this life I have today. I confess to you I am sinful and need you, my Savior. I look to you to show me how to live today. I give you all the praise and the glory. Amen.
