A Psalm 23:1-3 Prayer

Updated: Nov 11, 2023

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake."
~Psalm 23:1-3 ESV

You, O Lord, are my Shepherd. You provide, You protect, You guide me along this path of life, and You are ever-present with me. You are all that I need. I shall not want anything more than You.

My Good Shepherd makes me lie down in green pastures and leads me beside still waters because You, Lord, know rest and restoration are vital for me. This world is full of danger, discouragement, and distraction, but when I take the time to spend my life with You, You provide me with what I need to overcome. When life ebbs and flows, help me to simply be still in Your presence and to relish this gift of time with You. Let Your presence, then, be my focus and only desire.

Restore my soul, O Lord. Restore me to be even closer to You. Lead me in Your paths of righteousness for Your name's sake. Forgive me for when I force my own way and try to make my own paths in this life that You have given me. I need You to lead, dear Shepherd. You know what is best for me. Guide my steps and let them be a reflection of who You are. Work out my mistakes for Your glory.

I trust You. I follow You. I love You. You, Lord, are my Shepherd, I shall not want. Amen.
