Reveal to Heal

Devotional Book: At the Feet of Jesus by Joanna Weaver ©2012

"My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes keep to my ways."
Proverbs 23:26 NIV

One of the things I love to do in my quiet time with God, is make art and/or do artistic lettering with a devotional. It allows me to reflect longer and take in what I just read since, by design, devotions are quick readings. Spending time doodling, coloring, lettering, and putting stickers and washi tape on a page gives my mind a moment to pause, worship, and talk to God about what I just read. (It also helps me to keep track of what devotions I have read!😉)

I have found in doing this practice, God speaks just as He does through His Word when I read it. Why is this important? Because that is my intention every day I spend time in His presence--to hear Him speak, to reveal to me truths so that I may heal, grow in wisdom, and understand my life better and who I am.

Sometimes it can be scary to let God reveal things in you and to you, but the healing and guidance He gives far outweighs the pain of the pruning process. God does not want us to stay in sin, to carry the weight of past mistakes, to walk around with open wounds. He wants us to be free, which is why He sent His Son to be wounded and to die for us. "But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5 NIV).

Give God your heart today and ask Him to reveal to you the transgressions that keep you from truly living, the hurt that keeps you from healing, the unforgiveness that keeps you from freedom, the past trauma that keeps you from peace. "[Jesus said] 'Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.'" (John 14:27 NIV) Receive His breath of life, healing, freedom, and peace. Amen.
