Soar in the Glory and Goodness of God

Updated: Jan 14

"but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint."

Isaiah 40:31 NIV

Faith. Trust. Hope. Oswald Chambers says that faith is remaining true “to God’s character whatever He may do.” In the book of Job chapter 13 verse 15, Job says, “Though he slay me, yet I will trust Him” (KJV), and Emily Dickinson says in one of her most famous poems (314), "“Hope” is the thing with feathers -/That perches in the soul -/And sings the tune without the words -/And never stops - at all -/". Faith, trust, hope. They are individually, uniquely essential and also all together needed to live in the glory and goodness of God.

To remain true “to God’s character whatever He may do” is to step out boldly from the boat of fear and uncertainty and onto the water where our Lord is walking (see Matthew 14:22-33). Unlike Peter in the moment when the wind blew and the waves rose, we must keep our eyes fixated on Jesus so that we don't sink down into the depths of lost and confusion. "Though he slay me, I will trust Him." Eyes looking, seeking, searching for the Savior are eyes trusting, hoping, and believing in faith that when the waters of difficulty rise or when the wind of fear blows, we won’t change course, go our own way, or try to control the situation. Instead, we will rise above and see the glory and goodness of God. "'Hope' is the thing with feathers."

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles..." Isaiah 40:31 NIV.

Faith, trust, and hope in the Lord can bring us to new levels and new heights. God wants us to experience more of His glory and goodness, but we can't see it stuck on the ground in our own humanness or sitting in a boat of disbelief. The glory of God isn't kept hidden from us nor is it waiting to be revealed to us when we leave this earth. The glory and goodness of God can be seen and experienced now. So then, go to new heights with God by putting your faith, trust, and hope in Him.
